Young Entrepreneur Amy Hale visits France

2013-09-10 Amy HaleAmy Hale is setting up her social enterprise in the UK, called Zero Carbon Canape Catering and is keen to learn from an experienced social entrepreneur.  Through our grant from the Erasmus programme she was placed with Larry Tchiou at Make Sense in France.  She will be learning about project management and scaling up and will help Make Sense develop their pitch.

Working in Indonesia

Seminars for social enterprise advisers in North East England…

Are you an adviser called on to help set up or grow social enterprise? – and would you like to improve your ability to find the optimal organisational structure for your clients?

Geof Cox Associates will be running seminars in North East England in early December on behalf of the North East Social Enterprise Partnership, aimed at developing a network and resources to embed organisational structure development expertise in the social enterprise support infrastructure in the region.

Birthplace of Co-operative Movement under US Hedge Fund Attack

We have created a campaign on  to petition against the US Hedge Fund attack.

This campaign calls on all supporters of co-operative values and principles worldwide to petition the UK Government and US hedge funds to ensure that member-control of the Co-operative Bank is quickly restored, and that co-operative values and principles are observed in its governance and management.

By signing this petition, you will generate letters to Vince Cable (Department of Business), Companies House, Financial Conduct Authority, Prudential Regulation Authority and the financial institutions that are undermining co-operative values and principles in the birthplace of the co‑operative movement.


Would you recognise a Social Purpose Venture if you saw one?

The UK Government want to encourage investment into companies that achieve social benefit.  They are consulting on which companies deserve this encouragement.

NGO Transformation to Social Enterprise



Our next workshop, on 7 to 9 September 2013, will be run by our Indonesia based consultant Romy Cahyadi.

Social Enterprise Europe are working in partnership with the British Council to deliver training in Social Enterpreneurship.

Romy will tackle the important issue of how can NGOs learn from the good practice of social enterprise.

Romy will be joined by Dr Rory Ridley-Duff.  Rory is the Course leader for MSc Co-operative and Social Enterprise Management at Sheffield Business School and is a UnLtd/HEFCE Ambassador for Social Enterprise.

Rory will deliver a seminar on Introducing Social Entrepreneurship and the Social Economy.
