In 1983 Cliff Southcombe was the Manager of Community Routes Ltd. when they formed England's first legally registered community co-operative using the then new Company Ltd by Guarantee model with the help of Freer Spreckley, then of Beechwood College in Leeds.
The Memorandum and Articles have been continually updated by this company over the past 20 years and has always been available for use by social enterprises free of charge and in word form. As a result our mems and arts have helped set up countless social enterprises in the UK.
